Why do we need sunscreen?

Being in Malaysia, we are exposed to the sun constantly. Therefore, we need to get into the habit of using sunscreen, especially now that it's the school holidays and maybe a day by the beach or a park is in the itinerary! Do not believe the power of sunscreen? Let's do a simple experiment.

Get some sunscreen and some black sugar paper.

Fold the black paper into half:

Put some sunscreen on one side of the paper and smear it, making sure that it doesn't get on to the other half of the paper.

Leave it under the sun for about 5 hours and then check out the results!

However, we would like you to provide us with the results! Please share you photos with us on Facebook. You will then appreciate the sunscreen and make sure you and your family are protected from harmful rays of the sun.

The more intense the colour, the more intense the harmful UV rays are! These bracelets are definitely a unique gift for friends and family!

We're Back!

After almost a year of being on a hiatus here on our blog, we are back! 

Let's start with something simple and fun!

I'm sure you can find some vegetables and food colouring  at home and I am sure that you will have water and some cups.

Colour the water with your desired food colouring and put in a leaf of vegetable...it could be a stalk of celery or a leaf of cabbage like the photo below.



Wait for at least 8 hours and see the change in colours! This will allow children to understand how plants transport water. With this demonstration, the children can see the colours move up the leaves and how the plant absorbs the water. If you have older children, you can definitely expand this experiment by putting the cups of water in different conditions, such as under the sun, in the fridge, in the dark?

Amazing Fact

Anda suka makan ketam? 
Jom ketahui beberapa fakta menarik tentang ketam.

Berbanding ketam yang biasa kita temui, pernahkan anda bayangkan terdapat ketam dewasa yang sangat kecil.

Ketam Pea adalah ketam terkecil di dunia. Mereka hidup dan makan di dalam cengkerang tiram, kekapis dan kupang. Beberapa ketam ini hanya mempunyai cengkerang sepanjang 6.3 mm (0.25 inci) iaitu kira-kira sebesar saiz sebiji kacang pea.

Ketam Lelabah Jepun pula merupakan Antropod terbesar di dunia. Ia mempunyai span kaki terbesar, mencapai sehingga 3.8 meter dan berat sehingga 19 kilogram. Ia boleh ditemui di dasar laut di Lautan Pasifik seluruh Jepun. Nelayan sukar menangkap ketam gergasi ini kerana habitatnya yang terlalu dalam, maka spesis ini tidak dieksploitasi secara komersial. Walau bagaimanapun, ia dianggap sebagai makanan istimewa yang jarang ditemui di Asia.

Ini pula Ketam Kelapa, ketam darat yang terbesar di dunia. Berat setiap seekor boleh mencapai kira-kira 5-9 kilogram. Kuat dan tangkas, ia mempunyai kebolehan memanjat pokok kelapa, mengupas kulit buah kelapa dan memecahkan tempurung kelapa untuk memakan isinya.

Mungkin ramai antara kita yang tidak tahu betapa SABAH, satu-satunya negeri yang mempunyai banyak Ketam Kelapa. Malah ramai juga tidak tahu ketam ini boleh dimakan dan rasanya memang lazat.
